Rest day

Friday, February 18th, 2011

This is what happens when your family over-eats at LongHorn Steakhouse in O.C. FL.  They had great Rib Eyes (Our kids called them T-ribs) Soooooo Good! If you are out of town and see a LongHorn it’s a great place to eat.

Remember RG will be teaching this Saturday’s WOD and the Gym will be closed on Sunday.  We will be back on track on Monday.  The gym will be open on Tuesday to make up for this Sunday.  Lets call it a make up day.  You can make up any WOD that you missed or work on a skill set.

Enjoy your rest day.

I’m not sure if anyone noticed, but look how skinny Michele’s legs look!  HAHAHA They look like two chicken wings.

My son is turning 9 years old today,  so you know what that means! Birthday WOD!  Here is a little twist.  We did not get to do Ayla’s birthday WOD, so I am combining the two for a Birthday Partner WOD.  And Yes it is a Chipper!

WOD: Partners have to be boy/girl.

200 meter run (Both partners have to run)

175 DU’s (min of 25 DU’s)

150 Wall balls  (20/14)

100 box jumps (24/20)

75 Floor wipers (115/75)

50 Ball Slam (30/25)

25  Paddy cake pushups

11 Man makers (35/25)

9 Free Handstand push ups (No wall, no bands, no kipping) Your partner can hold you up and assist.  Each of you must do at least three reps.

Don’t care how you do it, just get the work done!

Championship fight!

Monday, February 14th, 2011

This week will be a lifting and chipper week. Terms used to describe a type of workout; a singlet is one move in a WOD, a couplet is two, a triplet is three, and a chipper is four or more. For example today’s WOD is a triplet, because of the three moves. This week we will switch from a lifting day to a chipper day.

I thought we would start out easy and start with a triplet. I pulled this off of CF One world. Let’s get ready to rumble!

WOD
One round is the following for time:

10 thrusters (M:95#/W:65#)
10 burpees
10 pull-ups

Rest one minute and repeat for a total of five rounds. Add total time for all five rounds.

Total Time Translation:

6:00 or less: Win by devastating knockout!
6:01 – 7:00: Win by TKO
7:01 – 7:30: Win by unanimous decision
7:31 – 8:30: Win by split decision
8:30 or more… it’s a draw!

Caution CF can be dangerous!

You know your a Crossfitter when, you look at this pic and start to drull.  Here are a few more You know your a CF when:

*Your shins have more scrapes than a twelve year old boy.
*You know better than to say, “That looks easy”.
*You’ve spent HOURS watching videos of other people working out (who does that?).?*CrossFit t-shirts dominate your wardrobe.
*When you travel, your first concern is if there is a local affiliate close by.
*Refresh is your favorite button after 9pm.
*3 on 1 off takes priority in your schedule.
*The words Snatch and Jerk have lost there comedic value, but farting while deadlifting has not.
*There are days you have to talk yourself OUT of going to the gym because it’s a rest day and that means you are suppose to rest, right? You are confused at this and ask your coach if you can still go for a run. When they tell you rest means rest, still confused, you ask if that means you should do nothing or could you do…?
*You can relate to this sentence “I feel like a GD Navy Seal and an Olympic Gold Medalist wrapped in a F-ing suit of body armor”.
*You shave your hands.
*Pain is a relative term.
*You know what this stands for IWCABTAMD.
*You know the ten general skills by heart and can recite them at social gatherings.
*You have posted pictures of yourself working out on facebook.
*You believe in sweat angels.
*You’ve looked up the criteria for the Nobel peace prize to see if you can nominate Coach Glassman.
*Tape and chalk are at a premium.
*You used to bit your nails and now you pick at your calluses.
*Almond butter is the nectar of the Gods.
*You know that the benchmark WOD’s are named after real people and you would find it interesting to talk with some of them and find out WHY?
*You think in blocks not calories.
*Fat is delicious, you laugh at fat free.
*You don’t remember what it is like to have mirrors in your gym.
*You know that a 70%+ dark chocolate bar can sub as 3 blocks carbs.
*You must workout with loud obnoxious music, but never hear a word of it.
*You consider other CrossFitters family.

*You believe the world would be a better place if everyone was a CrossFitter.

Those are some we came up with, now lets hear yours.

Skill: Push Press  3,3,3 @ 80% of 1 rep max

WOD:

As Many Reps A Possible in 20 minutes (AMRAP)

5 Burpee

10 Push ups

15 Overhead Lunges (45/25) new members scale as needed or use dumb bells

Completing all three moves  (burpees, PU’s and OHL) is 1 round,  and every reps counts.  This mean if you do 6 rounds and 5 burpees plus 6 push ups, your score would be 6 plus 11.  Good luck!
